Torrential Rains Worsen Conditions for Displaced Residents of Gaza, Agencies Alert
Heavy precipitation over the past week have worsened the already dire circumstances of the vast number of displaced Palestinians in the region, as stated by humanitarian agencies.
"Awful" Conditions Creates Serious Dangers
A official described the weather overnight as "terrible", with rain so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"The recent weather was truly terrible for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gales were so forceful," noted the representative.
There is extreme worry that children living in temporary structures in damp attire will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.
Deaths and Widespread Destruction
Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the storms.
Other reports indicate a higher death toll. Authorities said that numerous structures had collapsed completely and scores had sustained partial collapse.

Aid Operations Seen as Not Enough
Agencies have increased deliveries of tents, bedding and clothing since the halt in hostilities commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Agencies are striving constantly to provide that aid and to hand it out, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we still have thousands of families and children who are really suffering nightly," cautioned one representative.
Long-Term Concerns and Agreement Plans
The next stage of the ceasefire encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other provisions.
Humanitarian organizations have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to address pressing and ongoing requirements."
The war was triggered by an assault in October 2023. Following military operations have led to a substantial number of fatalities in the region, according to medical reports.
