The Reds Will Not Alter Forward-Thinking Philosophy In the Face of Current Struggles, Says Arne Slot

Arne Slot has revealed that the Anfield decision-makers agree with his assessment regarding the team's slump and he refuses to compromise their forward-thinking philosophy in pursuit of a turnaround. The manager conceded that six losses in seven games was unacceptable ahead of Aston Villa's visit.

Pressure Mounting Throughout Challenging Phase

The manager acknowledged the pressure was on before his altered lineup exited the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace. However, he insisted that this pressure to arrest the slide is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or executive leadership following a substantial investment of nearly £450 million.

"Our views align," remarked Slot, whose side will meet Los Blancos in the continental tournament and play against Pep Guardiola's side in the English top flight.

Team Strength Continues Unquestioned

Liverpool's manager thinks his team "possess an exceptional group if they are completely available and completely set for the fixture list". He noted that the summer investment in players such as the German international and Alexander Isak, who is expected to be sidelined again against Aston Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in an excellent position for the near future and the long-term future".

Integration Challenges

When pressed on why his team were struggling to integrate, he responded: "That's not particularly helpful. 'What's causing this?' I give an explanation and people say I'm offering alibis. I can list multiple factors why we are underperforming or experiencing losses as we do but, as I say every time, there are never enough excuses to have a run of form as we had now."

  • No matter if I could identify 200 excuses
  • As Liverpool manager you should not suffer defeats
  • Unfortunately six out of seven

Backline Performance

Only the Clarets (21) have allowed more significant openings from regular play this season than the Merseysiders (19). The first-place team, the Gunners, have allowed just two. Yet the manager disputes the team has been overly exposed and asserts there is no reason to sacrifice his attacking principles for a defensive approach after 10 games without a shutout.

"From my perspective we don't giving up numerous openings so I find no basis to change our playing style completely but we have to enhance in keeping clean sheets," he said.

Particular Cases

"When facing United, how many openings did we give up? Versus the German side when we were ahead by two goals, we scarcely gave up a shot on target. In each fixture we played until now we haven't allowed a lot of chances. Not at all. We do give away a bit more than the prior term but that stems from us being behind early so you play more openly. But typically I don't believe that our challenge is that we concede too many chances. Our problem is we don't score the openings we produce."
