Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Real Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager
Spurs fans who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.
Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth top-flight home defeat of the year.
However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when the keeper lost the ball far beyond his area.
The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.
However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.
The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments later when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Tottenham fans jeered him.
The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.
One of those jeering episodes truly angered the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Dane stated regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.
"Those individuals can't be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind each other going forward."
Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a early advantage before Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second period performance.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the next goal was "totally avoidable".
"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He's a excellent team player, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."
'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game
Italy international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the feedback.
"The second goal was a mistake of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger mountain to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.
"It is on us to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in composure and poise to reverse results. Today is a bad defeat and it's tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'
In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an simple goal for Wilson to score.
Actually it was the second most distant top division score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.
10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the kick.
"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional time. After that it was solely about attempting to make the right contact and place it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it left my boot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Work Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager
Although the keeper's error led coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home struggles.
The match was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team record along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders the Reds to come before the close of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.
"During in a poor run, everything seems to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the second is a error from Vic.
"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a unique story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in four consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest rates on file in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He must take the stick," Murphy said. "He's accepted a high profile job at a huge football club with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
