Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and insanity with similar glee, all while telling engaging, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose work have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a fresh setting and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the essence of society through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, daring sensibility to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
