Experience the Reimagined Classic Journey: This Complimentary Demo for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Arrives Soon.

Enthusiasts anticipating the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. An exciting playable preview will become available on Jan. 7, granting a generous taste into the game's opening hours. Importantly, all advancement made within this demo will be able to be transferred directly into the full game upon its subsequent debut.

Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: A Thorough Overhaul

This project constitutes a from-scratch reinterpretation of the iconic 2000 role-playing game, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable step away from recent series remakes, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this version embraces a charming 3D art style. Locales are designed to evoke detailed miniature worlds, with characters sporting a whimsical stylized look.

"Even with the 3DS port, the main quest was remained notoriously extended. So we came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this adventure for contemporary players."

Key Gameplay Improvements and Modernizations

The creators have introduced numerous enhancements to refresh the original experience. These include:

  • Quick Overworld Encounters: Similar to modern RPGs, low-level monsters can now be defeated instantly on the overworld map without entering a full traditional combat sequence.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Players can speed up combat animations to quickly get past simpler encounters.
  • New Vocation System: A brand new vocation was added for this remake. Additionally, characters now have the ability to take on a secondary vocation, greatly expanding customization possibilities.

Such alterations are designed to address a key the 2000 game's frequent points of feedback: its considerable length. The initial adventure could easily take more than 100 hours to finish. This reimagined version was specifically reworked to improve flow and reduce any filler.
